Christ's love, put into action.
Love in Action is how we try to live out our vision of hope and healing in our community. We do this through community and global partners, supporting members of our church family who are serving, and commissioning everyone involved in our church to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the people around them.
Two kinds of work.
Some of these we run ourselves — with our own people, our own time, our own resources. Others are organizations already doing work we believe in, and we come alongside them with money, volunteers, and partnership.
The list below isn't exhaustive — it's a snapshot of where the church is showing up right now. Plenty more happens that isn't on this list.
What we do ourselves.
How our congregation directly shows up for people in our community. If you'd like to be involved in any of these — financially, with your time, or just to learn more — email us.
Benevolence
We're often contacted by people in our community needing short-term financial help — a utility bill, a tank of gas, a hotel room for a night. We have a process for figuring out how we can help both financially and spiritually.
Foster Care
A growing number of families in our church are providing safe places for children and young people in our community through foster care. Whether you're a foster parent or someone wanting to play a supporting role, there's a place for you in this work.
High Country Engagement
A vision to engage the heart of the High Country — through Spiritual Formation Groups designed for this area, partnerships with local churches and campus ministries, and a posture of being good neighbors to the people we share these mountains with.
Little children, let us not love in word or talk
but in deed and in truth.
They share our building.
Our deepest partnership is with the organization down the hall. Immigrant Connection of the High Country has its office in our building, and our relationship runs through finances, volunteers, and ongoing learning.
Ensuring greater access to high-quality, low-cost immigration legal services to the High Country.
Immigrant Connection of the High Country
A Department of Justice Recognized Office providing low-cost legal consultations, English language classes, and citizenship preparation to immigrants in our community. They work on family petitions, naturalization, DACA, and work authorization.
How we're in it together: We share a building (they're in suite #208, we're in #301), we provide financial support, and our people volunteer as language partners and legal assistants. Carrie and her team also spoke at our Table Talk on immigration before they ever moved in down the hall.
Who else we're in with.
Organizations we partner with through funding, volunteers, and active participation. Each one is doing work we couldn't do alone — and our hope is that being in it together strengthens what they're already doing well.
The Hope Center
Empowers women facing unplanned pregnancies, helping them make informed choices in a moment that often feels impossibly hard.
Our role: A monthly donation plus an annual fundraising campaign through the church.
Hospitality House
Offers at-risk residents in our county housing, nutrition, and trauma prevention in a safe, nurturing, healthy environment.
Our role: Financial support that goes specifically toward meal preparation through F.A.R.M Cafe.
Watauga Compassionate Community Initiative (WCCI)
Working to prevent, recognize, and treat trauma in our community by building safer, more stable, more nurturing environments and relationships — through education, advocacy, and policy change.
Our role: We're actively involved alongside educators, public health officials, medical professionals, and other faith communities. Not just funding — showing up.
It takes a lot of hands to make Sunday happen.
Sunday mornings run on volunteers — the welcome team, the AV booth, the coffee table, kids' classes, the worship rotation. Nothing about it requires expertise. Just willingness.
All of this is funded by the people who call this church home.
Our giving page has the details, plus how we think about giving here.
